STONE BREWING LAUNCHES SOUR PROGRAM WITH STONE MISSION WAREHOUSE SOUR – APRICOT

In Beer News by BT

(Escondido, CA) – Stone Brewing has been experimenting with barrel aged beer for a long time, with some stops and starts in between. They even poured a few “happy accidents” at Stone Sour Fest’s of yesteryear. After years of anticipation, Stone is now officially launching their first barrel aged sour/tart bottled product and doing so via an online bottle release. Read on for details of the beer itself and how you can get your hands on it.

Our Mission Warehouse production facility has long been known for its incredible barrel-aged and small batch beers. Now, we’re venturing into the world of funk.

For the better part of the past two years, we’ve been quietly working on an ambitious new project and patiently waiting for it to be ready for you to get your hands on. These exclusive 4-packs were brewed with 500 pounds of apricots squeezed into just four barrels of beer throughout different stages in the 18-month process. This is a very limited, one-time release that you won’t want to miss out on.

A base brew was soured, then blended with barrel-aged barley wine and a highly-hopped, high-ABV, barrel-aged triple, both of which were aged with three strains of Brettanomyces yeast. The result is an incredible 8.7% ale that is perfect to drink now, but will hold up and mature beautifully over time.

Stone Mission Warehouse Sour – Apricot is available for purchase exclusively online. Bottles are 11.2oz and priced at $32 per four-pack (including all applicable taxes and fees). This is an extremely limited release and is expected to sell out quickly.
