The uKeg is a many key in the size of a half-gallon or gallon growler. It is designed to keep beer cold and fresh. It is made of double-walled vacuum insulated stainless steel. It has a VPR cap that automatically regulates pressure to optimally carbonate the beer that uses low cost, food-grade CO2 cartridges. It has a pressure gauge to help you easily read the pressure inside the growler. It has a dispenser tap to help you easily pour your beer any time, without removing cap.
Beer Is Fundamental through our parent company, Vibes and Vino, first tested the uKeg after seeing it at the 2015 Great American Beer Festival. We were able to speak with representatives from GrowlerWerks again this year at the 2016 Great American Beer Festival to get a update on any changes are news as it relates to the uKeg.
We had the opportunity to speak with one of the founders of GrowlerWerks and one of the great minds behind the uKeg. Like so many others, he is happy with the uKeg and was surprised bu how popular it has become.
“We have definitely been surprised by the popularity of the uKeg,” states Sonnichsen. “We didn’t think that it was going to be as popular as it has been from the start. But, we knew that it would eventually gain popularity.
The uKeg comes in stainless steel. There is also a copper-plated version.
